Use Energy Saving CFL Lights:Saving Sundays

This is my first post in the Series of Saving Sunday’s .
This series is my initiative to share practical money saving tips to my friends like you.

Use Energy Saving Lights

Using energy saving lights like Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL bulbs) will consume 60% less energy than incandescent bulbs, but give the same illumination, sometimes more illumination.

Though CFL looks like costlier item than normal incandescent bulbs, Installing CFL will
save you on electricity bills and energy in the long run. CFLs life last 10 times longer than a standard bulb.

Typically, a 20-watt CFL would produce the same amount of Illumination with less energy than a 100-watt incandescent bulb;

Use compact fluorescent bulbs in fixtures that are on for more than four hours a day. By replacing only two 75 Watt light bulbs that are on four hours a day by two 15 watt energy-saving lamps, you can save almost 18 Kilo Watt hours per year;

Now a days, Government has also initiated to use CFL bulbs instead of normal incandescent bulbs to save energy; Government has decided to give one CFL Bulb to each family for free to replace the old fashioned bulb.

So make sure to buy only lamps/bulbs that have the Energy Star Rating to ensure quality compliance.
